Previously known as the Washington Darts, the Miami Gatos played their home matches at the Miami Orange Bowl before being renamed the Miami Toros after the 1972 NASL season.

The owner of the team, Garo Yepremian of Miami Dolphin fame moved the team to Fort Lauderdale where it would once again be renamed, this time becoming the Fort Lauderdale Strikers.
